QUIZNOS SUB, the quick service Italian style sub sandwich restaurant has arrived in Cork at the Merchants Quay shopping centre, opposite Dunnes Stores on the ground floor.

Quiznos Sub restaurants offer a full range of mouth-watering sub sandwiches which are toasted on proprietary artisan breads and made with the finest quality ingredients and topped with salads and signature sauce dressings. Quiznos offers a unique eating experience for those looking for a quality healthy alternative to fast food and traditional sandwich bars. Quiznos Subs has 4,000 restaurants open worldwide with another 4,000 in construction. Quiznos Sub sandwiches were voted the best US sandwich by the New York Post survey in 2004. US Entrepreneur Magazine in 2005, rated Quiznos Sub restaurants as the number 2 franchise in the US.

In addition to an extensive range of toasted sub sandwiches, Quiznos Sub Restaurants also offer a range of salads, soups, confectionary, hot and cold drinks and a selection of other snack treats.

There are already seven Quiznos restaurants open in Ireland today: five in Dublin, one in Carlow, and one in Cork with one opening soon in Wexford Street, Dublin. Cork is the first franchise store owned by Clyde McDonnell, Niall Kenny and Roberto Taddei, all of whom have worked in the restaurant trade for over twelve years. Excited about the first Quiznos in Cork, Clyde enthuses about the great bread and fillings. “The bread is delicious - it’s a recipe that has Italian roots as the originator is Italian. He was a man who loved food and started experimenting with ciabatta bread, toasting it and experimenting with fillings. He found that the toasting enhanced the flavour of the bread and when the fillings he put on them were toasted too, they tasted even better. He then devised a way to make the toasting process quick so that people could get a personalized, toasted and filled roll quickly.”

“We felt a juice bar was the ideal companion for the healthy Quiznos sub sandwiches range so we incorporated a ‘Pure’ juice bar alongside the Quiznos operation. The Kylemore group assisted us in setting up and operating the juice bar which is branded ‘Pure’ and is aligned with their nationwide juice bar operations.” “It’s a new concept, but one that Cork people have adopted as their own.”

Kylemore owns the master franchise in Ireland for the Denver-based company. “We saw Cork as the perfect location for this franchise” says Christian Pauritsch, Business Development Consultant for Kylemore Foods Group. “Cork is really buzzing, vibrant, young and progressive and we feel privileged to be part of such a rich food culture.” It is estimated that a new Quiznos location opens every 16 hours somewhere in the world. Not surprising as Quiznos provides a truly mouth watering product, a restaurant with seating or the option to take away, a range of beverages including barista made coffees. Quiznos can also deliver for your office lunch or conference.

The sandwiches are toasted in a conveyor belt type toaster that glides the product along as the heat slowly melts the cheese or heats up the turkey and ham or melts the delicious beef with the cheddar and mushrooms. Salad is added later so it stays fresh and crisp. Options such as guacamole, tomato, red onion, mustard, and bacon can be added. For the vegetarian and health conscious, the guacamole, black olives, peppers black olives, tomato red onion and lettuce are topped with fat-free dressing and Italian seasonings. Roadhouse Ranch Salad, Honey Mustard Chicken Salad and Chicken Caesar Salad are also available to those watching their carbohydrate count.

Ingredients for the subs are sourced by Kylemore who are affiliated to the Feile Bia scheme. This means all ingredients have full traceability. Currently, the speciality breads are being imported from the UK, but soon the recipe will be revealed to a lucky Irish baker who will bake for Ireland’s Quiznos outlets.

Nobody beats our Toasted Subs.

“I’m glad the bread has an Italian connection like me! It’s a good bread and has been created to toast well and provide plenty of flavour”, says Roberto Taddei. The 30 inch long roll resembles a long baguette and is available in white, brown, ciabatta and low-carb flat bread varieties. It is available in a range of sizes and filled with the Quiznos signature recipes. The Classic Italian is just what it suggests: wine cured Genoa salami, pepperoni, capicola, honey cured ham, mozzarella cheese, lettuce tomato, red onion, black olives, Quiznos red wine vinaigrette and Italian seasonings: a taste of Tuscany in a tasty sub. If that doesn’t make your mouth water and you need some comfort food, try a heated chocolate chip cookie? All your troubles will melt away! Try it for yourself! Quiznos offers platters for corporate catering, as well as subs for home or office parties.
